Atlanta Bar Non-Competative Softball League Fields

Welcome to the 2008 ABA Non-Comp Softball Season!!!

We’ve grown by two teams from 2007. We have 48 teams this year! A warm welcome to several new teams: Hamilton Westby, McCurdy & Candler, Shapiro Fussell, Greenberg Traurig, US Postal/US Secret Service and the AG’s office.

Our regular season starts June 2nd and ends August 7th. The playoffs start the following Monday. For those new to the league, every team makes the single-elimination tournament which will end sometime in early September.

Due to our lack of fields and the unwillingness of most teams to play more than a game a week, we will NOT be making up any games postponed during the regular season due to weather or other circumstances.

Some friendly reminders/suggestions:

Teams on the schedule are listed in no particular order as far as home team and visitor. A coin flip prior to the start of the game determines home/visitor.

Please remember to touch base with the opposing team a day or two before your scheduled game to ensure both teams will be able to play. If you anticipate being short of players, you can always call other teams playing the same day at that particular field location and probably get someone to show up early.

We do not employ umpires during the regular season. We have found over the years the best way to avoid any conflicts during the game is to agree beforehand on certain ground rules, e.g., having the base coaches calling the runners safe or out, having the catcher call fair or foul, etc

For everyone’s safety, softballs are limited to 44 cor/375 lb. compression softballs.

At the conclusion of your game, please PICK UP ANY TRASH!!! This will save me from numerous phone calls. Also, pick up any softball equipment that the team before you may have left. They will more than likely call you looking for it

Please keep track of your team’s W/L record, but do not send in your results every week. Near the end of the regular season we will ask for it in order to seed the teams for the tournament.

Most importantly, please remember that this is a non-competitive softball league. Its purpose is for everybody to have fun playing softball and to socialize. Many teams will have their teenage sons and/or daughters playing at times. This is truly a league where participating is more important than winning or losing. When things get tense on the field - and they will at times - please keep this in mind.
